Welcome in Sargans and Heidiland!
Sargans (1,700 ft. above sea-level) - East Switzerland - just off the highways to Grison and Austria, prominently situated between the Rhine and Seez valleys in a beautiful countryside, is a quiet little town steeped in tradition.
Built on a promontory, the most famous landmark of Sargans is its castle, which looks back on a long historical past. The quaint old town and the Roman excavations in Vild are worth a visit too.
Since 1983 a part of the ancient Gonzen iron mines is open to the public. Sargans is an ideal starting place for long walks through forests and vineyards, alpine meadows and trips to the principality of Liechtenstein. The Gonzen massive (1830 meters) - imposing background to Sargans - can be climbed at a comfortable pace in three hours. The view from the top of the Gonzen is breathtaking.
Both the Pizol (2848 meters) on the other side of the valley and the Flumserberg are well-known ski areas supplied with aerial tramways and ski lifts in winter and chair lifts in summer.
The neighbouring village of Bad Ragaz with its special warm mineral Swimming pools, Casinos and the romantic Tamina gorge offers the typical international spa facilities and is a further attraction in the Heidiland.
Sargans with its homely atmosphere welcomes you. An ideal town for holidays with many restaurants und hotels to suit everyone's wishes.
